There is no simple answer to this quester as types and amounts of fees vary with the situation and the needs of the client.  Fee agreements though are generally based on time and expense, flat fee, or contingent fee arrangements.

Time and Expense

This time of billing is the common hourly rate billing.  Rates widely depending on factors such as the difficulty, complexity, and the time that will be required to handle the matter.

Based on the above factors, attorneys' fees in Texas range from $150 per hour to as high as $600 per hour, with average fees $185 to $325 per hour range.  Our firm prides itself on quality representation at competitive rates between $150 to $250 per hour.

Flat Fee Agreements

In some situations, we will handle maters on a flat fixed fee basis based on an evaluation of the matter and the estimated time a matter will take to resolve.  Some matters, though, are so complex that they do not lend themselves to this type of arrangement.  As such, litigation matters contain too many variables to bill in this manner.

Common matters where we typically enter into flat fee agreements include preperation of deeds and other real estate documents and wills and related estate documents.

Contingent Fee Agreements

In a contingency fee arrangment, we will undertake representation on a matter or a percentage of the amount recovered or saved for the client.  The benefit of this type of arrangment is that the client does not have to incur any upfront legal fees (except or filing fees in some instances). When we accept a matter on a contingency basis, however, we will weigh the risks of recovery and the probable outcome with the time we expect to invest in the matter.

Common matters where we typically enter into contigent fee agreements include personal injury and property damage matters.
